Bismillah ir Rehman ir Rahim
According to Dr Sharib:

According to Dr Sharib "Al-Mumit is the One Who has created death for
everyone. Hence everything is mortal."

To emulate the name we are advised to entrust our affairs to Allah, and to treat
pain and pleasure as coming from Allah - and to implore Allah to avert trouble,
pain and suffering.

Appropriate recitation is useful in shaking off bad habits, developing self control,
and overpowering the self.

Some other references:

And verily it is We
Who give life, and Who give
Death: it is We Who remain [the] Inheritor
(After all else passes away).

Al-Ghazali says - there is no life-giver or slayer but God.

(Al-Ghazali - The Ninety-nine Beautiful Names of God. Trans. Burrel/Daher: ITS: 1992.)

Shah Wali Allah of Delhi, tells us that there is a vaporous body called Nasmah
that can be said to be the subtle essence of blood. The Nasmah is not the same
as the rational soul. When the Nasmah separates from the nourishment
provided by the body (including the senses) at death it becomes very weak. It is
then reinforced by Divine Providence so that the Nasmah becomes the vehicle
for the soul - much as the body had been its vehicle during its life. The rational
soul itself dwells with God and is unaffected in this respect by these
transformations.

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death I shall fear no ill
For Thou art with me, Thy rod and Thy staff they comfort me.

The Psalms of David (Zabur)

"Yet methinks death owing to love desire is a life, that my Beloved bestows upon
me as a boon."

Ibn Al-Farid.

O Khawaja! For the thought of the grave, some time thou should save,
To get the moisture of tears in thy eyes and heart thou should crave,
For the work of the world thou hast a thousand occasions,
Some time should be earmarked for the thought of the grave.
