In the Name of God the Merciful the Compassionate
|
Your God is one God; there is no
God but Him, the All Merciful, the
All Compassionate.
Wa 'Ilaahukum 'Ilaahunw-Waahid: laa 'ilaaha 'illa
Huwar-Rahmaa-nur-Rahim.
Commentary
In the first part of this beautiful verse
the unity of God (tawhid) is affirmed. In
the second part idolatry (shirk) is
denied. In the third part there is the
argument that it is God, and God
alone, upon Whom we can depend for
our very existence and for our
upbringing and comfort. We depend
upon His mercy and grace. Such
being the case there is no one who
can validly claim that he is entitled to
be worshiped.
