God Made me a Cup of Tea Today
God made me a cup of tea today - and drank it!
I said 'O Lord' -
He said - if you call me Lord then you are my servant.
If you call me Friend then you are my friend,
If you call me Beloved then you are my lover.
And if you call me lover then you are my beloved,
I asked if He was not transcendent, far above me,
He said - do you want to put a distance between us?
I am that distance and this closeness,
If you call me 'I' then guess who I am
He gave me a cigarette - and then He smoked it.
He wrote this poem and I asked if it shouldn't have rhymes,
He said - call it blank verse - and smiled inside.
I said I wanted to include the word Love in the poem,
He said - I have already put it in.
He put the poem on the website
And He is reading it now with a smile.
The Garden (in the manner of a rubaie)
Your dew-bejewelled finery, the early morning light displays;
Absorbing the sun's glare, over you noon a radiant drape lays;
Only at the time of evening's calm, in your true colours you appear,
And in the dark of night? Your beauty only in the heart's eye stays.

Grey clouds, grey streets, daily we see;

Her so divine femininity goes so easily,
To the very core of a man’s masculinity;
Such hard work from a man it demands,
To bring the gems she so lightly commands.
Afterthought
Because for sure many a woman,
Works harder than many a man,
You may feel this is not socially realistic;
But its verity is really something mystic.
Here we are talking of the feminine ideal,
And of course of the masculine as well.
These are qualities that to a certain degree
Exist in every person I am sure you agree.
Think it over deeply, wisely and well,
And if God decides to remove the veil,
You may see it reveals the perfection,
Hidden in every facet of His creation.
