Sharib draws on his vast literary knowledge as he explores the many
facets of light. It includes chapters on the light of intuition, the light of

enabled him to quote from a wide range of religious, mystical and literary
sources without interrupting the flow of inspiration. He achieved a universal
perspective which kept his thoughts in tune with Islamic/sufi knowledge
whilst allowing him to express this through the medium of a wide range of

The Psalm of Life
The third in the Psalms trilogy. Life as we know it is a passing phase but it
must be lived with the values of the real and enduring. Here Dr Sharib
provides us with a framework for living which is at once practical, moral and
spiritual. The title of some of the chapters such as The Joy of Work, The
Value of Friendship, The Spirit of Self Help, The Importance of Little Things
etc. may give an indication of its range. In certain respect it follows in the
literary traditions of the Victorian moralists such as Samuel Smiles but
brings to that genre the vitality and universality of Islamic Mysticism at its
best and most relevant to modern life.

pages, perfect bound paperback. b & w photograph.Published in 1990 in the UK.
