It is the work of a young seeker of spiritual truth, who is a dentist by profession but a truth seeker by inclination. The pictures were taken during a short visit to Baghdad in 2025. The visit was inspired by Hazrat Zahurul Hassan Sharib (1917-1996).

Description

The wealth of Baghdad in the view of many is measured in financial terms, but amongst the earnest seekers of Truth it is the presence of the souls of the Imams and the great mystics that is the source of the inestimable magnificence and splendour that this great historical city may justly lay claim to.

This book presents in artistic photographic form some of the great shrines to be found in Baghdad itself or nearby. It is the work of a young seeker of spiritual truth, who is a dentist by profession but a truth seeker by inclination. The pictures were taken during a short visit to Baghdad in 2025. The visit was inspired by Hazrat Zahurul Hassan Sharib (1917-1996).

The pictures are accompanied by brief information about the life of those who lie buried in the tombs and by some of their sayings. Along with proper perusal of the photographs and study of the texts we are fortunate in being able to visit in a sense the true heart of great mystics of the past who are still an active and beneficial presence in the world.

Hazrat Abdul Qadir Al Jillani’s shrine is particularly revered throughout the Middle East by Muslims with an interest in spirituality. The Qadri Order he founded is very much alive today and continues to positively affect the lives of many.
